Chocolate to the Gills at Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk on Sunday

The Maritime Aquarium was awash with chocolate. And pickles. And Bacon. And Cannolis. Throughout the day on Sunday tantalizing aromas wafted past the jelly fish and over the shark tank while determined crowds surged through the vast hallways and exhibits.

Chocolate World Expo was a hit, no doubt. So much so that all of South Norwalk was abuzz with pedestrians navigating crunchy snow and patronizing coffee shops and burger joints alike. Parking was scarce and even some of the fish put in for a day off. Hordes of guests of all ages, dressed like snowmen in warm layers shuffled in out of the cold and stopped in their tracks at the sight of the fountain of chocolate: your choice of rice crispy treats, strawberries, bananas, or pineapple chunks dipped in milk or dark chocolate.

Then there was the bacon and chocolate. And the pickles and olives. And gourmet cheeses and the chocolate filled crepes. In fact there were 35 local and regional vendors set up throughout the Aquarium's galleries offering samples and sales.

There were celebrity chef demonstrations and performances by mentalist Marc Salem in the IMAX theater.  There was something for everyone indeed!

Congratulations to the Maritime Aquarium staff for hosting a fabulous break from the cold drab late January weather and accommodating so many guests. Maybe a two-day event next year?
