Cops: Car Was Parked in His Spot 9 Days, Says Man Accused of Vandalizing It

Police said a man charged with criminal mischief snapped after a neighbor's car was parked in his space for over a week.

Norwalk police charged an Aiken Street man with criminal mischief after, they say, he admitted to vandalizing a neighbor’s car that had been parked in his space for nine days, according to a report in the Norwalk Hour, which described the incident this way, citing police statements:

The neighbor, 34, reported the vandalism the Winnipauk Townhouse complex to police at about 8:30 a.m., Sunday. The windshield wipers of her 2012 Audi A4 had been bent. The windshield was cracked. The hood was damaged. It looked like someone had tried to slash the tires.

The woman told police she suspected a neighbor who she had had trouble with for years. When she asked him about the vandalism, he told her she shouldn’t have parked in his spot and slammed the door in her face, she said. Police asked the neighbor, Clark Allen, 51, how the car was damaged, Allen’s wife pointed to him and said he was responsible for it. Allen admitted to some (but not all) of the vandalism because the car had been parked in his spot for so long. The condominium association told him they couldn’t help him, he said. Allen was given a misdemeanor summons to appear April 29 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

The woman said her nephew had taken her to the airport when she was going on a nine-day vacation, then returned the car to the parking lot, but made the mistake of parking in the wrong space.
