Cops: Man Bit off Part of Girlfriend's Nose

A dispute over rent money turned violent.

An argument over rent money turned violent as a 30-year-old man out on parole for a previous crime bit part of his girlfriend’s nose off, police said, according to a report in The Hour.

According to the report, which cited police accusations not proven in court:

Jamaal Gilliam was arguing with his girlfriend in her East Norwalk apartment Monday afternoon when he grabbed her in what a witness said looked like a hug. Then she screamed as he bit her so forcefully that he tore off the cartilage between her nostrils.

Gilliam left the apartment with the couple’s two-year-old child, but he was spotted in Washington Village housing complex a short time later and arrested.

The woman went to Norwalk Hospital, where she was referred to a plastic surgeon. Gilliam, who recently served two years in prison on a charge of first-degree assault, went back into the custody of the state patrol agency after Norwalk police charged him with second-degree assault. His bond was also set at $10,000.
