The dog was found inside the pickup truck in the Walmart parking lot on Main Avenue.

NORWALK, CT — The owner of a Chihuahua that was left in a 100-degree pickup truck over the weekend was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty, writes The Hour.

Norwalk resident Edgar Labraga, 56, of Reservoir Avenue, was arrested late Saturday morning in the Walmart parking lot on Main Avenue. He claimed to have been gone for only 20 minutes, but had been gone from the vehicle for at least half an hour, according to police.

Officers and Animal Control were called to the scene on a report of dog in distress and found the dog - panting heavily - inside the vehicle with the windows cracked open. When the inside temperature of the vehicle was measured, it approached 100 degrees.
