The trendy new hotel, located at 353 Main Avenue, fills a demand in the Merritt 7 Business District, according to Mia Schipani, Vice President of Business Development at Hotel Zero Degrees.
"There is a huge demand for not only hotels, but for meeting space," Schipani said. "The guest rooms we built are for corporate executives, while the other hotels in the area are older."
The hotel features a roof-top lounge and recreation area, a fitness center, and Mediterraneo, a restaurant with a view of the Norwalk River.
Schipani said the hotel will carter to the many young professionals in the area. It will also provide meeting space with optional catering from Mediterraneo, which is a seafood-based restaurant with something for everyone on the menu. The hotel's private meeting room has space for 120 people.
"This is a moderately priced boutique hotel. We are providing hip amenities here," Schipani said.
Hotel Zero Degrees is privately owned, with another location in Stamford. The new hotel, located on Route 7 south of the Merritt Parkway, has brought about 50 jobs to the Norwalk community and features art exclusively from local artists, Schipani said.
