A former swim coach accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a 13-year-old Shelton girl applied for accelerated rehabilitation on Tuesday, the Connecticut Post reports.

Alan Marcel, 28, of Norwalk is charged with risk of injury to a minor and enticing a minor.
According to the paper, under the pretrial program, a defendant does not admit to the crime but is placed on up to two years’ probation and the charges are dropped if not other crimes are committed during that period.

The girl’s mother found the text messages on her daughter’s phone, the paper reports. The girl reported receiving the messages for about two weeks.
A hearing for the application will be held May 26.
