Man Arrested In Connection To Shooting: Norwalk Police

NORWALK, CT — A man was arrested Thursday on a warrant in connection to a shooting that occurred in Bridgeport earlier this year, according to Norwalk police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said Eugene McKnight, 37, of Bridgeport, was arrested in Norwalk around 5:30 a.m. through a cooperative effort involving Bridgeport and Norwalk police, as well as the U.S. Marshals Service.

McKnight was turned over to Bridgeport detectives and brought to the Bridgeport Police Department for processing, Gulino said. He was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

The warrant for McKnight's arrest stemmed from a shooting that occurred in Bridgeport on March 20, Gulino said. He also has a pending 2017 case out of West Haven, in which he was charged with home invasion, first-degree assault and criminal use of a weapon, according to Gulino.

McKnight is currently wearing an ankle bracelet and is on probation as a result of a previous arrest, Gulino said. He also has a pending 2018 case out of Bridgeport involving charges of criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, according to Gulino.
