Meet 4 Legendary Baseball Players At Stew Leonard's In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — Stew Leonard's is offering sports fans and customers alike a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet four baseball legends. In celebration of both the store's 50th anniversary and the anniversary of the New York Mets' 1969 World Series win, the "World's Largest Dairy Store" will welcome four players from that all-star roster to three of its stores next week.

Customers are invited to meet Art Shamsky, Ed Kranepool, Cleon Jones and Ron Swoboda at the Norwalk store on Monday, March 25 at 2 p.m., during which time the legendary players will sign autographs. The event is free and open to the public.

"Stew Leonard’s is about to start celebrating our 50th anniversary," Director of Public Relations Meghan Bell said. "We had the opportunity to welcome these four legends to the store, and we just thought customers would be excited about this great partnership. We’re excited, and we’re hoping it will make out customers happy."

In addition to autograph opportunities, the store will offer customers free samples of their popcorn and slices of Mets-themed cake. Hot dogs will also be sold for 50 cents, and the store is making blue and orange bagels "for the real die hard Met fans" to purchase.

The players will also pay a visit to the store's East Meadow, N.Y., location Sunday afternoon and the Yonkers store Monday morning. Proceeds from all three stores' wishing wells will benefit the Alzheimer's Association in tribute to legendary Mets Hall of Famer and longtime Greenwich resident Tom Seaver, who was recently diagnosed with dementia.

As sports fans, the Leonard family is excited to give customers the opportunity to meet four baseball legends and celebrate the store's 50th year in Norwalk through such a unique partnership.

"Soon customers are going to start seeing some great in-store signage and more information posted on our website about our 50th anniversary," Bell said. "The store opened in Norwalk in November 1969, so this Mets opportunity is a little bit in advance, but it’s such a great opportunity we couldn’t turn it down. We hope shoppers keep their eyes open for some more great 50th anniversary things from Stews."
