Norwalk Coronavirus Vaccine Rates
Norwalk residents continue to get vaccinated. Here is how the last week went.

NORWALK, CT — Connecticut continues to make good progress in the coronavirus vaccination race, but some infection hot spots have cropped up in the state.
About 55 percent of residents 16 and older have received at least one vaccine dose as of Thursday. Seniors have been especially keen to get the vaccine; nearly nine out of every 10 residents 65 and older has received at least one dose, according to the state Department of Public Health.
About a third of residents between the ages of 16 and 44 have been vaccinated and demand continues to be strong in the age group. General eligibility opened up on April 1.

Norwalk had 40,963 first doses administered as of April 14. About 46.12 percent of town residents have received at least one dose, according to the state Department of Public Health preliminary data. There were 7892 new dose administrations reported among Norwalk residents between April 7 and 14.
The city has been ramping up its vaccination efforts in recent weeks, and recently signed a partnership deal with the state Department of Public Health and Griffin Health, which will bring a mobile vaccination teams to Norwalk beginning Monday. Click here for more information.

"Our partnership with the state DPH and Griffin Health is a real win for Norwalk," Mayor Harry Rilling said. "We will be bringing more than 1,000 vaccines into the community and breaking down barriers to access. No online appointment is needed and these clinics are for Norwalk residents only. I am incredibly appreciative of the hard work and planning that went into this partnership, and for the ongoing efforts to get our community vaccinated."
Cases
Connecticut’s infection rate has settled around an average of 30 daily cases per 100,000 residents. Hot spots are starting to appear in the state, mainly in the Naugatuck Valley.
Norwalk recorded 208 new coronavirus cases between April 7 and 14, according to the state Department of Public Health’s preliminary data. There have been 11071 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 220 coronavirus deaths, with 52 new cases reported since Thursday.
Norwalk had 43.7 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between March 28 and April 10 and a positive test rate of 7.20 percent. There were 40.4 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.
