Norwalk Drivers: Lane Closures for Bridge Inspections this Week on Merritt
Lane closures: This week on the Merritt in Stamford and Greenwich and in downtown Stamford; next week on Interstate 95 in Norwalk.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced it will have crews conducting bridge inspections in Stamford this week, prompting lane closures on the Merritt Parkway and one in downtown Stamford on Thursday.
Starting next week, there will be lane closures on Interstate 95 in Norwalk as work resumes on the project between Exits 14 and 15 (more on that below).

Here are this week’s lane closures:
- Two lanes of the Merritt will be closed Tuesday, May 5. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the left lane will be closed northbound between Exits 31 and 33; as well the southbound right lane between Exits 34 (Long Ridge Road in Stamford) and 31 (North Street in Greenwich, at the New York state border).
- On Wednesday, May 6, the northbound right lane will be closed between Exits 31 and 33 (Den Road in Stamford). The southbound left lane will be closed between Exits 34 and 31. The closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- And on Thursday, May 7, bridge inspections will cause alternating left and right lane closures on Atlantic Street between South State Street and North State Street (where Interstate 95 goes over Atlantic Street), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lanes will close regularly on the northbound-traffic side:
- from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Wednesday
- from 10 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday
- from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m., Saturday.
Lanes will close regularly on the southbound-traffic side
- from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday
- from 10 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Saturday
Lanes will close on Route 1 (Connecticut Avenue) Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.
“Variable message signs on Interstate 95 will be utilized to inform motorists of traffic conditions in the area,” the department announced. And, the department warns, weather or other “unforeseen conditions” could change everything about the schedule.
