Norwalk Drivers: Lane Closures on Rt. 7, I-95, Merritt Till 3 PM Tuesday

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced these lane closures at various times on Tuesday.

Lanes will be closed for roadwork Tuesday on Rt. 7 and on some other stretches of highways that Norwalk drivers may be traveling on, but the good news is that all the lanes are expected to be reopened by 3 p.m. the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced.

The announcements came from late morning to early afternoon on a department Web page.

The right lane will be closed for road work on the northbound-side of Route 7 between I-95 and Exit 1. The closure is expected to last until 3 p.m.

The left lane of Interstate 95, for northbound traffic (toward Norwalk) is closed for unspecified road work until 3 p.m. Tuesday, the department announced.

The left lane on a stretch of highway between Exits 12 and 13 will be closed until 3 p.m., the announcement said. The announcement, however, posted at 12:32 p.m., also said the road work was expected to take two hours or less, so the lane may be open well before 3 p.m.

On that same mile-long stretch of highway, a low point on the roadway near the Darien North rest stop exit had a bit of flooding during Monday’s rain showers (on the southbound-traffic side, too), but the lane closure may have nothing to do with that.

Some other lane closures resulting from road work on area highways, from the same Department of Transportation Web page:

  • In Fairfield, road work on the Merritt Parkway is closing the right lane on the southbound-traffic side for at least part of the 1.4-mile stretch of highway between Exits 46 and 44 until 3 pm.
  • In Greenwich, road work on the Merritt Parkway is closing the left lane on the southbound-traffic side between Exits 34 and 31 until 3 p.m.
