Norwalk Mutual Aid Fill-A-Trunk Event this Saturday

Grassroots organization seeks food donations

Norwalk, CT – Norwalk Mutual Aid/Ayuda Mutua will present their second Fill-A-Trunk Food Drive event this Saturday, June 27th from 9am-5pm. The public is encouraged to visit any one of 7 Norwalk locations to deliver donations of food and supplies to families in need.

Mutual Aid seeks non-perishable items such as canned foods and hygiene products. Rice, beans, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, snacks, baby food, baby wipes, laundry detergent and cleaning products are the most needed donations.

“We’ve set up our ‘Fill-A-Trunk’ event with locations around the city to make it easy for Norwalkers to share what they have with those in need in our community,” said Suzanne McFate, one of the organizers of Norwalk Mutual Aid. “Every donation allows us to feed more families. By working together, we can help all our Norwalk neighbors thrive.”

Norwalk Mutual Aid is a grassroots organization that came together early in the pandemic to assist families in need during the crisis. The group of “neighbors helping neighbors” relies on supplied items and donations to feed 75-100 local families every two weeks. The first Fill-A-Trunk event on June 13th collected over 3,500 items from the community.
