Norwalk Police Announce April Officers Of The Month

The Norwalk Police Department has announced two officers of the month for April.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Department has announced Sgt. Kevin Markert and officer Chris Wasilewski as April's officers of the month.

The department congratulated Markert and Wasilewski in a Facebook post last week. According to police, both officers were assigned to monitor distracted driving on April 19 when a vehicle stopped near them.

Police said the driver asked the officers for help because a passenger was suffering a medical emergency.

"The officers had the vehicle pull over to a safer position on the side of the road, where they quickly assessed the situation and determined that the victim was suffering a drug overdose," police said on Facebook. "Narcan was administered while requests for additional assistance was radioed."

Officers administered the passenger a second dose of Narcan after the first dose did not have the desired effect, police said. Rescue breathing was also applied before Norwalk EMS arrived and took over caring for the passenger, police said.
