Long-time Norwalk resident and stress management expert Jim Porter has penned a new book entitled Maximizing Mindfulness & Minimizing Stress, published by Health Matters Today, a follow up to his first book, Stop Stress This Minute, published by WELCOA.

Maximizing Mindfulness & Minimizing Stress is a practical, hands-on approach to making mindfulness a part of your daily routine. Whether you are looking to cope with specific health issues like anxiety, depression, insomnia, or chronic pain, or simply aiming to be more productive, more focused, and less stressed, Maximizing Mindfulness can help you get there by showing you the therapeutic value of staying in the present moment.

The present moment can offer you a refuge from both anxiety and anger. When you worry about what may happen tomorrow, you might feel anxious. When you think about things that have already happened, you might feel angry. By immersing yourself in the present moment, you’ll have a roadmap for navigating the emotional ups and downs of your own life. You’ll see how mindfulness meditation and the mindfulness techniques offered in this book can help you avoid many of the pitfalls that people everywhere are facing as the result of social distancing, isolation, fear, grief, not to mention increased alcohol and recreational drug use.
