NORWALK, CT — El Mexicano Restaurant on Wall Street has been closed temporarily by the Norwalk Health Department due to violations of coronavirus protocols, according to officials.

The restaurant was closed on Dec. 2 for a two-week period and can reopen on Dec. 16. According to the health department, the restaurant did not "comply with the use of facemasks and other cloth face coverings."

Additionally, the restaurant sold alcohol without also selling food, which also is a violation. The closure was ordered after one inspection in late October and two inspections in November, according to health officials.

We will continue following up to ensure compliance with the state's reopening guidelines and sector rules which are in place to help keep people safe."
