Norwalk Snow Emergency To Be Lifted At 5 P.M. Friday: Mayor

Vehicles that were parked for free in the Yankee Doodle and Maritime Garages must be removed by 5 p.m. Friday.

NORWALK, CT — The city will lift its current snow emergency at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, according to Mayor Harry Rilling, as the winter storm that began on Thursday wanes in Norwalk and the rest of the area.

Norwalk Public Schools were on a remote learning schedule again on Friday, as a result of the storm, which also temporarily delayed coronavirus testing in the city Friday morning.

All plow routes in the city (main and secondary roads) should be completed, but crews will be on standby monitoring road conditions through the evening rush hour commute.

Road crews will be monitoring conditions on Saturday and performing additional cleanup as needed, Rilling added. Additionally, vehicles that were parked for free in the Yankee Doodle and Maritime Garages must be removed by 5 p.m. Friday.

Norwalk City Hall and all city facilities are open, and city and school parking lots and sidewalks have been cleared. Crews are scheduled to return to those areas again Friday night to re-treat pavement to help alleviate freezing.
