The following obituary of Norwalk resident Michael Anastasia, 60, is from Magner Funeral Home:
Michael Anastasia, age 60, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 after a
long illness. Michael was born on January 24, 1960 to the late Margaret Ann D’Amato
Anastasia and the late Patrick William Anastasia. Michael was raised in Westport and Norwalk
and attended local Norwalk schools. After specialized technical training and education, he
enjoyed working as a skilled machinist in his early career. He later worked as a heavy
equipment operator for the Town of New Canaan. Michael enjoyed sports, and was a talented
player on a men’s adult league softball team in Norwalk for many years. His teammates gave
him the nickname Gazelle because he was so fast. Michael was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan,
loved cooking, barbequing, travel, and family vacations. He absolutely loved movies, especially
comedies, and could recite lines from most of them.
Michael is survived by many family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by his
surviving sister Patricia Anastasia Babey (Peter) of Madison, CT, his brother Robert John
Anastasia (Susan) of Lithia, FL, and his sister Larraine Demeo of Bridgeport, CT. Michael is also
survived by his former wife, constant friend and caretaker Tammie Anastasia, and her parents
Carole and Tom Bozzi who were also very close to Michael and devoted to his care and
wellbeing. He will be dearly missed by his Godsons Connor Samuelson and Bobby DiPalma, and
his nephew Matthew Samuelson. Michael was easy going, sociable, and loved a good laugh.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and enjoyed spending time with him.
