Police: Norwalk Man, 56 and Intoxicated, Threatens Girlfriend with Knife

The man was in a confrontation with his girlfriend late Sunday night in Westport.

Westport police said a 56-year-old Norwalk man showed his girlfriend a knife in a threatening manner late Sunday night, according to a report in the Westport News that cited Westport police accusations.

Matthew McGuinness of Main Avenue in Norwalk was intoxicated when police arrived at a Wilton Road home after the 9:50 p.m. call.

He was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge and held until Monday morning, when he appeared in state Superior Court in Norwalk. He was then released from custody on a promise to appear later in court.
