Popular Norwalk Seafood Stand Closed Due To Weather Damage
The summertime favorite recently announced the stand would be closed "until further notice" due to weather damages.

NORWALK, CT – Popular Norwalk seafood stand Overton's announced this week the summertime favorite will be closed until further notice due to weather damage. The popular stand typically closes for the winter around Thanksgiving and opens again in March.
"Due to some weather damages, we will be closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience," the stand's Facebook page reads.
The Facebook post does not indicate whether the stand will reopen before Thanksgiving or will simply remain closed until spring.

Located on Seaview Avenue in East Norwalk, Overton's offers a long dock in front of the restaurant for boaters to tie up for lunch or dinner. The outside deck offers guests the opportunity to take in gorgeous water views as they eat.
Their menu features hot dogs, burgers and fries, as well as New England summer favorites like clam rolls and fried scallops and shrimp. They also sell ice cream for dessert.

In August, longtime owner John "Neil" Overton passed away at his daughter's home in Elizabethtown, Ky., after a tough fight with ALS, according to an obituary published in the TC Palm on Aug. 15. He was 77.

Overton owned and operated the popular summer spot for decades before selling the business in 2000, according to the Norwalk Hour. The stand was founded in 1948 by his father, Willis Overton, and it still retains much of its old-fashioned charm to this day.
