Road Closures Scheduled in Norwalk

The roadway will be closed to all vehicular, pedestrian, and water traffic.

NORWALK, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced closures for the Stroffolino Bridge carrying Route 136 over the Norwalk River.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicular, pedestrian, and water traffic on the following dates and times on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday Oct. 9 at 6 a.m.

The DOT is also advising about these tentative closures:

  • Monday, Oct. 14, Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 16, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Monday, Oct 21, Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Wednesday, Oct 23, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The night closures are being scheduled to minimize the traffic impact as construction crews install and adjust lock machinery at the toe of both movable sections of the bridge.

Detours will be in place. Additional signage and police officers will be posted along detour routes. The work is weather dependent, and the schedule may change.
