Snow Emergency Remains In Effect In Norwalk: Update
Norwalk City Hall, the libraries, schools and other government buildings and offices were closed Monday and will remain closed Tuesday.

NORWALK, CT — The city remained under a snow emergency Monday night, as Norwalk officials warned that the worst of the snow storm is yet to come.
"Plowing operations began early this morning, and will continue throughout the day and night as the storm continues to build in intensity," Norwalk officials wrote on Facebook.
A winter storm warning remains in effect in Fairfield County and the state until 6 a.m. Tuesday, and Gov. Ned Lamont issued a travel ban on certain tractor trailers. He also urged Connecticut residents to stay at home if possible.

Before it is over, the storm could dump 18 inches of snow throughout much of the state.

This was from the city Monday night:
- A Snow Emergency remains in effect in Norwalk until further notice. City Hall, both libraries, and all City parks will be closed tomorrow.
- Norwalk Public Schools will be closed tomorrow. This will be a remote learning day for the district. Latest updates from NPS can be found at norwalkps.org.
- Residents in need of shelter must call 2-1-1. Individual requests cannot be made at local shelters. Please call 2-1-1- for a referral through the Coordinated Access Network.
- The Yankee Doodle and Maritime Garages remain open for free overnight parking.
- City garbage and recycling collection is canceled tomorrow, February 2. On Wednesday, the Monday routes will be collected, and on Thursday, the Tuesday routes will be collected. This will continue through Sunday.
- COVID-19 testing operations at Veteran’s Park will be canceled tomorrow. A delayed opening on Wednesday is likely. For the latest updates visit norwalkct.org/2312/COVID-19-Testing.
- Food distribution at Calf Pasture Beach on Wednesday remains on schedule, but may be postponed depending on weather conditions. An official announcement will be made tomorrow afternoon.
- As of 6 PM there were approximately 100 customers without power. No restoration timeline is available at the moment, but crews are on route.
- Residents and property owners are reminded that per City ordinance, they have 24 hours after the end of a storm to clear sidewalks. Please do not allow private contractors to plow snow into the streets and onto neighboring properties. Ordinance Officers will be enforcing these rules.
