NORWALK, CT — Things were merry and bright at the "world's largest dairy store" Tuesday night as Stew Leonard's kicked off the 2018 holiday season with its annual Christmas tree lighting celebration at its Norwalk store. The night included musical entertainment, complimentary hot cocoa and cookies and even a visit from Santa Claus.

According to a press release, a 30-foot artificial evergreen tree will serve as the Norwalk store’s holiday centerpiece for the second year. Created by American Christmas, Inc., the tree is hand-crafted by seven people over the course of a month and features more than 33,000 LED multi-color lights, approximately 40-50 bulbs per square foot.

The event also featured an appearance by a decorated fire truck from the Long Hill Fire Department in Trumbull. According to Director of Public Relations Meghan Bell, 3,500 bulbs adorn the 30-foot long truck, which is the same height as the store's Christmas tree.
