Coronavirus Oxford: Restaurant Lays Off 41 Staff Members
121 Restaurant and Bar said the layoffs should be considered permanent.
OXFORD, CT — 121 Restaurant and Bar laid off its entire staff of 41 as of Tuesday due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Given the Executive Order, and with no end to the pandemic in sight, we regret that we have no choice but to lay off our entire workforce on short notice," wrote Angela Bhojwani, vice president of human resources in a letter to the state Department of Labor.
The restaurant was located next to the Oxford Airport and its large windows allowed great views of small aircraft takeoff and landing.

The restaurant posted Tuesday on Facebook that it wasn't offering delivery or takeout.
"We support the governor's decision to close restaurants, bars, gyms, etc to better ensure the safety of our state, as we all continue to navigate a rapidly evolving situation," management for the restaurant wrote on Facebook.

Gov. Ned Lamont along with the governors of New York, New Jersey and now Pennslyvania are part of a regional approach to slow the spread of coronavirus. Restaurants and bars in the states can only serve takeout and delivery.
