GoFundMe Effort Launched To Aid Injured Colchester Firefighter
Matt O'Connor, a member of the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Company, was seriously injured in a recent motorcycle accident.
COLCHESTER, CT — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to aid Matt O'Connor, a member of the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Company, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.
O'Connor suffered a fractured pelvis and a deformed femur, among other injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe effort had raised more than $8,600 toward a goal of $15,000 to help with O'Connor's financial burden.
"Matt has a long road of recovery and will not be able to work for an extended period of time," wrote Collin Maynard, the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign. "On top of all this, Matt and his girlfriend Jenn are expecting a child very soon. We are looking for donations to cover upcoming healthcare and home expenses."
