A Love Letter From Carol Mastersanti To Her Husband

Though it was only love at first sight for one of them, this couple's love has only grown stronger over their 33 years of marriage.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Carol Mastersanti’s story about her husband:

“I met my husband when I was 14. It wasn't love at first sight, at least not for me. My husband, however, would tell you that it was love at first sight for him when he caught sight of me at the age of 13. I attended one of his 'school field days' -- that’s what they called that event back in the day. I was in eighth grade.

Upon entering high school is when he caught my eye, but my best friend also showed interest in him, so I never said anything. That was until she told me she was interested in someone else.

Our first conversation was in the courtyard of the school. He wanted to meet after school, so we did. After several get togethers and talking on the phone, we started dating in October of 1978.

We married in 1985. I was 20 years old. We now cherish our life with two great young adults: Joseph, 27 years old, and Sara, 21 years old. We will be married for 33 years come this March. The vows we took, every single one of them, except ‘til death do we part, we have been through.

He is my soulmate, best friend and greatest husband and father a woman could ever ask for. It's not often these days to say you still love the person you met and married so many years ago. Our story is a romance that started many years ago and continues today.”
