Some parents are disappointed with the voting method and outcome.

Oxford’s D-14 cheerleaders will not be competing nationally in Florida for the first time in three years, according to a report by the Republican-American.

The Oxford Wolverine D-14, a cheer team for students not yet in high school, competed last Sunday in Amherst, Mass. and placed second, according to the Republican-American.

They scored a tenth of a point behind Newtown, and only first place finishers can automatically advance to the national level in Lakeland, Fla. on Dec. 10, the Rep-Am reports.

The Oxford Youth Football Cheer program parents voted recently via email and decided against going to Flordia. Some parents have complained about the voting method, which mandates a 90 percent quota. Town officials say there is nothing they can do to reverse the outcome because Oxford Youth Football Cheer program is private.
