Oxford Moves Closer To Purchasing 100-Acre Farm: Report

Town officials will seek to negotiate a purchase price with the owners.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford has moved a step closer to preserving the 100-acre Schreiber Farm at 571 Quaker Farms Road after securing a state grant for $1.1 million recently, the Republican-American reports.

First Selectman George R. Temple said the next step is to negotiate a purchase price for the property and then residents would need to approve it, the Rep-Am reports.

Appraisals say the farm is valued between $1.3 to $1.9 million. The land could become a future nature center and possibly for ballfields.
