Oxford Wins $500K Grant For School Security
The award was part of a national grant competition, according to officials.
OXFORD, CT — The town of Oxford was recently awarded a $500,000 grant that will be used to increase security at schools, according to officials.
First Selectman George Temple was notified earlier this month that the town won the COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program Award in the amount of $500,000. The COPS Grant was a national grant competition.
“The award will be used to increase security in all 4 of our schools,” the Connecticut State Police - Oxford Resident Trooper's Office wrote in a post on Facebook. “Oxford Resident Troopers Office would like to thank our First Selectman, Superintendent Dr. McKinnon, and most importantly Oxford’s superior grant writing team Kathleen and Scott. The hard work put forth by this team will go a long way to protect our children.”
