Oxford's Great Oak Middle School to Perform Shrek The Musical Jr
Great Oak Middle School's Musical Production of Shrek The Musical JR Runs November 17-18 at Oxford High School.

OXFORD, CT - From Great Oak Middle School: All royal citizens young and old will be ogre-the-moon when Great Oak Middle School students present their production of Shrek The Musical JR. on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th at the Oxford High School auditorium at 61 Quaker Farms Road in Oxford, CT.
The Music Theater International (MTI) production is a family-friendly musical comedy that follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek who sets off on a quest to save a princess from a dragon. However, it turns out that in order to ultimately succeed, Shrek must battle an even bigger obstacle: learning how to believe in himself and open his heart to others.

Immediately following the Saturday matinee performance at 2:00 pm, all audience members can join the characters on stage for a FREE photo opportunity. Costumes are not only welcome – they’re encouraged!

Tickets are currently on sale at SHOWTIX4U.COM. Simply search for ‘Oxford’, ‘Shrek’ or ‘Great Oak’ to locate the performance. Ticket prices are $10 per person for anyone age 5 and over. Children 0-4 are free. The SHOWTIX4U.COM site allows audience members to select and reserve an assigned seat. General Admission tickets will also be available for sale at the door before each performance for any unsold, non-reserved seats, at $10 per ticket.
With music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, Shrek The Musical is based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the book Shrek by William Steig. The original Broadway production, starring Brian d'Arcy James as Shrek and Sutton Foster as Fiona, ran for twelve months and received a total of twelve Drama Desk Awards and eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. The musical was adapted to be performed by students by educational musical theatre consultancy firm iTheatrics under the supervision of Timothy Allen McDonald.
