Police: Drunken Driver's Car Stalls After He Strikes Wall, Flees

A Bridgeport man motorist who struck a rock wall and attempted to flee until his car engine stalled has been charged with drunken driving.

At 10:47 Thursday night, Michael Gugger, 57, veered off the right side of the Riggs Street and collided with the rock wall. He drove away from the scene, and his engine stalled approximately three-tenths of a mile away, police said.

He was uninjured and failed sobriety tests, police said.

He was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of July 5 in Derby.
