Reminder: Connecticut & Federal Taxes Due May 17

The deadline to file your tax returns and make payments for the 2020 tax year is Monday, according to Connecticut officials.

CONNECTICUT — Haven't filed your state and federal taxes yet? You still have time, taxes for the 2020 tax year are due by Monday, May 17.

"While many taxpayers have already filed their 2020 income tax returns, the professionals at DRS will continue to offer the highest-quality customer service up to, and through, the May 17th extended deadline," said Connecticut Revenue Services Commissioner Mark D. Boughton, head of the state's Department of Revenue Services. "Those who file and pay the full amount of tax due on or before May 17th, 2021, will not be subject to any penalties or interest for not paying their state income taxes by the due date. As always, we strongly encourage electronic filing, and urge taxpayers to call DRS with their tax questions – we are here to help."

Earlier this year, the federal Internal Revenue Service extended the deadline for filing taxes to May 17, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (it extended the deadline in 2020, too). Following the federal lead, Connecticut extended its deadline, too.
