Unsung Hero: Molly Jacob, Oxford
Oxford Patch debuts this new periodic column, which will feature young student-athletes who go above and beyond.

OXFORD, CT — Today we inaugurate a new periodic series on Oxford Patch, highlighting young student-athletes who are considered "unsung heroes." They are not necessarily the big star, but rather one who works hard, is a good student, is a positive influence and strives for the betterment of his or her school and/or community.
Name: Molly Jacob
School: Oxford High School, grade 11
Sports: cheerleading, softball
Nominated by: Leigh-Ann Jacob
"Molly has just finished her ninth season of cheerleading and is beginning her seventh year of softball with the Oxford High School cheer and softball teams. Molly works extremely hard to keep her grades at honor status, while working very hard for her teams and the community. She enjoys community service. She has made blankets for the Griffin Hospital Cancer Center, made and served food for the Spooner House as well as the Oxford Fire Departments and Oxford Highway Department after last spring's tornado, and this winter after our recent ice and snow storms. As a member of her teams, as well as a student at Oxford, Molly always is there to help, give a kind word or help with a solution. She isn’t afraid of hard work and just lending a hand to do what’s right. Molly does her part for her teams and community without ever looking for a pat on the back. She is just happy to help."
