Winners named in the Earth Day poster contest
Oxford Cultural Arts names first and second place winners of their inaugural Earth Day poster contest

Congratulations to Julia Sharron, grade 11 of Oxford High School! Julia is the first place winner of our the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission (OCAC) inaugural Earth Day Poster Contest!
Julia's vision was that of a "hand or (humanity) sprinkling soil onto Earth. As the soil gets closer to earth it turns to the colors of the water and land."
A quote, which Julia says was the inspiration for her work, reads “It is our duty to save Earth’s beauty”. The commission agreed and awarded her first place.

The second place award also went to an 11th grade OHS student Nicki Fox, whose medium is photography. Fox hopes one day to use her photography skills and her love of travel and adventure into a specialty photography business.

Her photograph and observation, which is also the title of her piece "The earth won't be so awesome once the flowers can't blossom" won her second place in the poster contest.
