This Is The Best Mexican Restaurant In Connecticut, Website Says

This restaurant is worth the drive for anyone in Connecticut, a new ranking says.

RIVERSIDE, CT — If you have a craving for tacos, you may want to head to Greenwich. According to the Daily Meal, Riverside's El Charrito restaurant is the best Mexican restaurant in Connecticut.

"This community in the famously posh town of Greenwich may be the last place you’d expect to find real Mexican takeout food. But at El Charrito, Carlos and Alex Terrón, who also run a popular food truck in neighboring (and more Hispanic) Stamford, have brought southwestern Connecticut a standard of Mexican cooking usually found only in urban Texas or California."

El Charrito is located at 7 Apache Pl. in Riverside. The Daily Meal highlighted the eatery's taco fillings, ranging from the mundane to pig's ear and cow's tongue.

The Daily Meal said it based its findings by consulting previous rankings, including America's Best Mexican Restaurants and The Best Taco in Every State.

"We then consulted with our contingent of city editors from across the country, checked local rankings, and researched review sites to see which ones got the highest marks from in-the-know locals. We then judged each contender on quality of ingredients, skill in preparation, level of local renown, and authenticity.

"Some 'fusion' was acceptable, but a focus on being as authentically Mexican as possible was key. We also gave humble taquerias the same consideration as fancy sit-down places and boisterous cantinas."
