Connecticut Secretary Of State Will Not Seek Reelection
Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill announced Wednesday that she will not run for reelection in 2022.

CONNECTICUT — Secretary of the State Denise Merrill announced Wednesday that she will not run for reelection in 2022.
Merrill, a Democrat, has served three terms as Connecticut's Secretary of the State. She was first elected to the position in 2010
"It has been the honor of my life to serve three terms as the Secretary of this great state," Merrill said. "I came into this office in 2011 with a promise to update and modernize the office with new technology and new ideas. I wanted to make sure that Connecticut’s election system reflected our modern world and not 18th century Connecticut when it was designed. And I wanted to make it easier for businesses to register and do business with the state, and to access business filings online."
