Coronavirus CT: Here Are The Town-By-Town Case Numbers

The Connecticut coronavirus hospitalization and positivity rate are still low, but up slightly from Monday.

CONNECTICUT — The coronavirus positivity rate climbed a half a percentage point from Monday's 8-month low, and the state Department of Public Health reported a small net gain of COVID-19 patients overnight.

State health officials reported that 18 young people were hospitalized with mild heart problems after receiving the vaccine, but do not know whether or not the illnesses were vaccine-related.

Nationally, Moderna said Tuesday its COVID-19 vaccine strongly protects kids as young as 12, the AP reported. a step that could put the shot on track to become the second option for that age group in the U.S. Both Pfizer and Moderna have begun testing in children from age 11 down to 6-month-old babies.

An additional 181 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in the state, bringing that total to 346,892. With 12,468 tests reported, the daily positivity rate now sits at 1.45 percent.

Hospitalizations climbed two beds overnight, according to the state Department of Public Health. That brings the number of those hospitalized with the virus to 129.

Coronavirus-associated deaths across the state rose by two on Monday. The COVID-19 death toll in Connecticut now stands at 8,221.
