Coronavirus Ridgefield: Aldrich Museum Canceling Programs
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is cancelling programs through the end of March, in light of concerns about the coronavirus.
RIDGEFIELD, CT —The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is cancelling programs through the end of March, "given the current concerns about" the new coronavirus, Executive Director Cybele Maylone said in a statement released Thursday.
The closure will affect the many activities planned for March 21, which were scheduled as part of their Super Third Saturdays. The Museum will remain open on the 21st and admission will still be free, but the "Tree Spa for Urban Forest Healing" and a variety of other performances have been cancelled.
Maylone said the Museum is taking special precautions to ensure that the environment is safe. High touch areas—such as door handles and other surfaces—are being cleaned frequently by Museum staff. In addition, for the foreseeable future, the publicly available art-making materials in their Studio have been removed.

"At The Aldrich, we believe that engagement with works of art can provide opportunities for respite, reflection, and inspiration, particularly during challenging times. While we hope you visit the Museum this spring, we ask you to stay home if you are sick," Maylone said.
