'Final Arrest' Made in $48,000 Burglary Case

The accused 18-year-old faces several charges from an April burglary case on North Street in Ridgefield.

An 18 year-old male turned himself on August 17 in for an outstanding warrant that stemmed from an April 6 2012 youth gathering and burglary charge on North Street, reports state.

Reports say that the accused, Maxwell Jewett, of Cobblers Lane, Ridgefield, is to be the final arrest where sixteen youths were arrested for charges related to a case which involved breaking into a residence, having a drinking party and stealing about $48,000 worth of jewlery,  according to the Ridgefield Press. Of those 16 suspects, only three youths, two of them juvenile offenders, were arrested on felony larceny and burglary counts; most others were charged with tresspassing misdemeanors, according to the Press.

Police charged Jewett with two counts of criminal trespassing, second degree delivery of alcohol to a minor, tampering with evidence, and providing a false statement in the second degree. He was released on a $100 bond and given a promise to appear in court.
