Former Governor's Historic Ridgefield House to Be Razed
Building will be torn down and replaced with the new home of Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association.
A historic Ridgefield house on Governor Street that was once the home of former Gov. Phineas Lounsbury (1887-89) is slated for demolition.
Ridgefield’s Historical Society had sought to prevent the building from being razed, according to the Danbury News-Times, however the logistics behind moving and maintaining the home proved too daunting.
Once the building is torn down, the property will become the new headquarters for the Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association, according to the News-Times.
The 6,500-square-foot building was built in 1885 and is currently zoned for office use.
