Fundraising Ride, Reception to Support Wider Exposure of Live Theater, Arts

Work out and hang out to raise money for the Ridgefield Playhouse's "Arts for Everyone" program.

The Ridgefield Playhouse has hosted a number of great bands, from the B52s to Cyndi Lauper to Colbie Caillat. On Friday, Sept. 5 you can hear those artists and more, all while burning some calories and helping to raise money for a good cause.

Join The Ridgefield Playhouse and JoyRide Cycling Studio in Ridgefield for a special night complete with a DJ and, for after work out fun, wine and champagne with cheese and other hors d’oeuvres from 109 Wine and Cheese — all to support The Playhouse’s Arts for Everyone outreach program.

The 50-minute indoor cycling class will start at 6 p.m. and feature DJ Yosif who will spin music of artists featured at The Ridgefield Playhouse both past and present. The minimum donation to ride is $50 and all funds raised will go directly to Playhouse’s Arts for Everyone program.

All riders are invited to stick around for an after party for complimentary nibbles and drinks post ride.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer the Performing Arts and make it accessible to everyone. Their Arts for Everyone outreach program helps low-income children and families in surrounding towns receive tickets for free. The Playhouse also works with other non-profits so that they can expose families to the arts who would otherwise not have the chance.

“Last year we were able to offer free tickets to many schools in low income areas so that they could come to our Arts in Education shows for free and we were able to bus them here as well,” said Allison Stockel, Executive Director of the Ridgefield Playhouse. “Everyone should have the opportunity to be exposed to and benefit from experiencing the arts. It’s not only important from the aspect of keeping live performances alive in a society that is deluged with recorded, multi-media experiences, but also from a social aspect about what it means for kids to attend a live performance and open their minds.”

“We are delighted to donate our studio to raise funds for this cause,” said Amy Pal, co-owner of JoyRide Ridgefield. “Our goal is to be able to provide a fun, interactive alternative to raise money. Our DJ Rides in particular are fun as well as out of the ordinary. We are honored that The Ridgefield Playhouse is riding at JoyRide Ridgefield for this special evening.”
