For the first time some snowflakes and possibly mixed precipitation is now possible on Thanksgiving. Here are the latest updates. BREAKING

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Parts of Litchfield County, especially in the hills, received more than a foot of snow Sunday prompting more than 25 schools to cancel Monday, and it’s still snowing there. For the rest of Connecticut the story is less about snow and more about the wind, and strong wind gusts will continue well into the evening hours on Monday and into Tuesday.

On Sunday, thousands of Connecticut residents lost power, and as of Monday morning the outages were down to a scattered 1,200, according to Eversource. A Hazardous Weather Outlook continues for the state Monday through the evening hours. Strong wind gusts, gusts possibly reaching 50 mph are still possible on Monday. During the day on Monday, expect winds between 15-25 mph with the occasional gusts up to 50 mph possible.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote on social media, “As we expected scattered snow showers overnight have led to some icy patches in some spots - even down to the shoreline. It's not everywhere but take it slow driving to work. New London even picked up a quick 1/2 inch.”

And as for the busiest travel week of the year, it looks to be relatively dry but also very cool leading into Thanksgiving, which shouldn’t impact travel plans too much.

For areas along the immediate coast on Thanksgiving it will likely be more rain than anything else with some snow showers possible, according to the weather service.

Areas inland may see some snow and freezing rain mix in with some rain during the late morning and early afternoon on Thanksgiving. As of now, no one is indicating that any accumulation is expected at this time on Thanksgiving.
