Home Theft Suspects in Court

Mitchell Carroll, charged in September 2013 with first-degree larceny in the theft of $291,500 from a Ridgefield home, is scheduled to return to Danbury Superior Court Feb. 10.

Carroll admitted in an audio recording made by the victim's daughter that he did steal a key chain from her house that he sold for $5 at a pawn shop. He also admitted he had a painting in his basement, but he stole that from a different house. Ridgefield police estimate Carroll may be responsible for stealing roughly $263,000 worth of jewelry from the victim.

Danbury Superior Court ordered Carroll to enroll in drug rehabilitation, and he has been treated by MCCA's McDonough House.

As part of the same incident, Ridgefield resident Steven Montanari is also scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 10. The police estimate Montanari took about $3,200 worth of items from the victim's house. He is charged with third-degree larceny.
