In Memory of Rita B. Robertson, 87, of Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Rita B. Robertson, 87, of Ridgefield, wife of the late John M. Robertson, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016.Mrs. Robertson was born on May 16, 1929 in Stamford, CT; a daughter of the late Bernard and Johanna (O'Sullivan) Barney.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 51 years, Mrs. Robertson was an Assistant Registrar of Voters in town, an active member of both the Ridgefield Women's Golf League and Founders Hall and a longtime volunteer income tax preparer in Port Charlotte, FL where she spent the winter months. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.Mrs. Robertson is survived by her four children: Lynn J. Robertson of Coventry, Joan R. Varga and her husband Stephen of Southbury, Mary-Jane R. Vendel and her husband Larry of Newtown and John M. Robertson Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of New Fairfield.

In addition to her children and their spouses, Mrs. Robertson is survived by eight grandchildren: Cheryl, John III, Ted, Joe, Cathy, Lucas, Betsy and Lisa, as well as four great-grandchildren; Grace, George, Isabel and John IV.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment followed in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Regional Hospice and Homecare: 30 Milestone Road; Danbury, CT 06810, or to Founders Hall: 193 Danbury Road; Ridgefield, CT 06877.
