Obituary: Thomas Joseph Maloney, Jr., 77, Of Ridgefield
Tom was one of the founding drivers of Rides for Ridgefield and an active member of the Ridgefield Men's Club.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Thomas Joseph Maloney, Jr., 77, of Ridgefield, passed away at home on Saturday, April 10th. Tom was born in New York City on February 1st, 1944 to Thomas and Ann Maloney (née Cosgrove). He grew up attending Catholic Mass every Sunday with his sister Julia, and joined the Christian Brothers after his graduation from La Salle Academy in New York City. Tom left the brotherhood to study at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and began to work for IBM in New York City following his graduation.
While in New York, he met his first wife, Mary Patricia Gannon. They married in 1971. Tom subsequently completed his MBA from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. They had a daughter, Patricia, in 1982. Following their divorce, Tom moved to Connecticut and began business consulting around 2002. After his retirement in 2011, he got a great deal of joy in answering the question “What did you do today?” with “Not go to work!”

Tom happily married his second wife, Patti McEvoy, in 2009 and moved to Ridgefield. They loved traveling together, with some highlight trips including China, France, Italy, England, Croatia, and a safari in southern Africa. As a true believer in helping others, Tom was one of the founding drivers of Rides for Ridgefield, a program that offered free transportation to Ridgefield senior citizens and residents with mobility issues. He was an active member of the Ridgefield Men’s Club and a generous donor to Founders Hall, where he encouraged others to donate on a monthly basis through his own example.
He is survived by his wife, Patti McEvoy Maloney; his sister, Jule Ann Maloney; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Maloney and Alastair Hamilton; and his grandchildren, Katherine Maloney Hamilton and William Maloney Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ann Maloney. Tom will be dearly missed by his cousins and friends.
