Officials Determine Origin of Ridgefield Hotel Fire

Firefighters found a fire in a single hotel room at the Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield on June 20.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The source of the fire last month at the Days Inn by Windham has been determined, but the cause is still under investigation, the News-Times is reporting.

The fire originated in the bottom of a refrigerator before it spread up through the wall, according to the Ridgefield and West Redding fire marshal.

Around 10:40 p.m. on June 20, first responders from the West Redding Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at 296 Ethan Allen Highway, the location of the Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield on Route 7. Firefighters found a fire in a single hotel room, and Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department and Ridgefield Fire Department were added to the call.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished shortly after 11:00 p.m.
