Police Charge Ridgefield Man With Hitting School Bus, Fleeing

The 20-year-old motorist hit the bus's stop sign, its bumper and a mailbox, according to police.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Police arrested a South Shore Drive resident after they say he hit a school bus and fled the scene.

Ridgefield police say that motorist Christopher Varian, 20, collided with the stopped school bus on Tackora Trail around 8:35 on Jan. 22, striking the bus's stop sign, its rear bumper, and a mailbox.

Officers apprehended Varian shortly afterwards, and charged him with passing a school bus and evading responsibility.

Varian was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear before Danbury Superior Court Feb. 7.
