Ridgefield, Area Police to Receive $600K Grant for Police K9s

A $600,000 donation from the estate of Danbury residents the Gleszers will allow Ridgefield and area police to increase K9 units.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Danbury Police Department announced Tuesday that through a generous donation from two local residents that the department, along with several others in the area, will receive monetary donations in order to increase their police K9 service dog units.

A ceremony will be held at the Danbury Police Department Headquarters on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 to recognize the private donation from the estate of Kenneth and Ann Gleszer in the amount of $600,000. The Gleszers, who were residents of Danbury, specified that money from their estate be left to increase the number of police service dogs throughout Connecticut.

The following police departments will be receiving funds from the Gleszer estate at the ceremony:

The ceremony is open to the public and will begin at 11 a.m.
