RIDGEFIELD, CT — Four of Ridgefield's Finest have been honored by Ridgefield's Bravest.

The RFD recognized police officers Lt. Jeff Smith, Officer Erik Hartling and Officer Dan Gjodesen for their work on June 26, 2017, when they were dispatched to an automobile accident at the intersection of Barrack Hill and Pin Pack Roads. Smith and Hartling assisted in the removal and subsequent care of the trapped person, while Gjodesen kept the scene safe, redirecting traffic and bystanders away from the operation.

The firefighters also honored officer Mike McKnight for his "assistance and professionalism" during an accident on Oct. 31, 2017. Fire crews responded that day to a call for a victim who had been run over by a car and was then trapped under the vehicle.
