Ridgefield Man Charged with Speeding, Alcohol, Drug, Gun Offenses

Newtown police arrested a Ridgefield man in the early hours of Wednesday morning on a variety of charges including possession of a loaded gun and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Daniel Houser, 19, was pulled over on Berkshire Road at about 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, according to reports, for driving above the posted 40-mile-per-hour speed limit. In searching his car, police discovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol, as well as a loaded weapon.

Houser was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two additional counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of possession of alcohol by a minor and one count of possession of a loaded gun inside a vehicle.

He was held on $25,000 bond for a court date later Wednesday.
