Ridgefield PD to Crack Down on Texting While Driving
The Ridgefield Police Department's crackdown on distracted driving is part of a national "U Drive. U Text. U Pay" campaign.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The police have announced they will be conducting a texting enforcement campaign during the first two weeks of August.
"We ask that you commit yourself to saving lives by never texting or using your phone while driving.," the Department posted on social media.
According to the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 20,000 people died n crashes involving a distracted driver between 2012 and 2017. Over the past six years, ten percent of all fatal crashes involved a distracted driver.
